Urban Drape is a contemporary, handloom artisanal saree brand from the house of Fashion Market, Sri Lanka- built on the philosophy of using fashion as a medium to encourage and inspire a modern sense of female integrity in saree wearers around the world.
To build a sustainable, unified signature for product presentation online and in packaging.
WHAT DID WE LEARN?
Sri Lanka has a unique expression of Tropical Modernism in its architecture which is also ever-present in the core of Urban Drape. The spirit of being rooted in traditional craft but with a modern expression is interwoven in each saree. We wanted every consumer to experience this as well.
WHAT DID WE DO?
Inspired by this ”island story”, a fluid expression that was warm, minimalist and very rooted in its culture was proposed- integrating obvious cues of tropical modernism in the banners with a more subtle, economical (hence sustainable) approach in the catalogue imaging. The same spirit was transferred onto the product packaging to complete this experience.
The project involved building a product presentation guidebook that provided a refreshed website wireframe, banner shoot directives, imaging guidelines, and product packaging.
